Helping Families

We the Bishops Fundamental costs (BFCS) a charitable organisation founded to aid your struggles and ensure your children receive the school uniform that they need without you the parent or carer worrying or having to cut back on essentials. We cater for many schools in the local area , predominantly Bishop Stortford however we also try to cater for the Uttlesford district.

Leighton Bishop

Since creating the idea of BFCS in July 2022, Leighton has been very proud of what the charity has accomplished so far.

Severin Fleet

Severin joined in November 2022, he enjoys the events he attends and to spread the good work of the charity.

Danielle Mathias

Danielle does a lot of work for the charity, responding to messages, delivering uniform, answering queries and so much more. She loves helping people and to make their lives better.

Our journey

The timeline below shows the main points in our ever expanding journey right from the start of Bishops fundamental costs - BFCS in July of 2022.

Timeline

Work experience / Local to global

Instead of doing work experience you could go to school and there was a planned day which was hosted by external teachers, the day included team building, research, create a charity idea then at the end of the day you would present your idea to everyone and the group with the best idea won. Our group came second place but was still given the opportunity to take it further.

July 2022

11th November 2022

Local to global project

Travelled to the Clarion offices in Southwark to participate in a competition with multiple other schools. We had to present our charity idea to a board of professionals, the charity had to be easily doable but with the most impact. We came joint first place.

1st July 2023

First event

This was the first time holding an event ever, the event was (and still is) held at Jackson square which happened through the kindness of the shopping centres staff. The pop up shop was open from 10am to 3pm, it was a very stressful day as we were so new but we received very positive feedback and we helped a lot of families

The future

What happens now?

"Our aim is to hold many more events and to grow far beyond than Bishop Stortford. We want to be known for the place where people can come to get their uniform if they struggle"

All of our uniform exchange events are held at Jackson Square shopping centre, 11 Devoils lane, Bishop Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM23 3XH. Please be aware that our event dates do vary, please find out when our next event will be held under the events tab.
